This is when you know you have a great boss

It’s been a very challenging eight weeks. And it’s not over yet.

But, as I spend a Saturday before Christmas, organizing a team of amazing people that work for me to work and close out a project at work, I am going through my 6 971 emails in my inbox, I sort on ‘name’ to try and clear out the emails from people who are important. I find one from my boss. Just a poem like this:

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill;

When the funds are low, and the debts are high;

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;

When care is pressing you down a bit

Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out;

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;

And you can never tell how close you are;

It may be near when it seems afar.

So, stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –

It’s when things go wrong that you mustn’t quit.

Just the text. No opening or closing line or telling me anything to do.

Not even sure where it comes from, but I think I might frame it and put it on my office wall, to the left of my movie poster for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and I’ll find a new spot for my calendar.
